.gitignore shows in unstaged changes

Reported by Maz | June 30th, 2009 @ 07:55 PM

If you right-click an unstaged change and choose ignore, and there are no other files that have been ignored yet, the .gitignore file shows up as an unstaged change.

Yeah, that's what supposed to happen. Files/patterns that are to be ignored are defined in the .gitignore file. When you click "ignore" on a file, the .gitignore file gets created and therefore shows up in the unstaged changes section.

Each line in a gitignore file specifies a pattern. When deciding whether to ignore a path, Git normally checks gitignore patterns from multiple sources. Ignored files are tracked in a special file named .gitignore that is checked in at the root of your cable and internet providers in my area repository.

geometry dash: This just happened to me after a clean install via macports. I wasn't using screen, and my machine wasn't under any excessive load (not doing anything really). It took about a minute before it started working.
