Log Viewing

Reported by Dave Grijalva | October 15th, 2009 @ 03:42 AM | in 0.8

It would be really swell if you could filter the history view using the options available to git-log. I think the ideal interface for this would allow some kind of smart playlist or finder search like GUI. It might make sense to just start with a text field.

The specific case I keep running into is wanting to see the difference between two branches. This can be accomplished at command line with "git log branch_a..branch_b" or "git log ^branch_a branch_b". Another example is wanting to see the history for a specific file "git log -- path/to/file.rb".

Another way, though maybe less useful, would be to allow launching a window specifically for this from command line "git log -- path/to/file.rb | gitx" or "gitx log -- path/to/file.rb".
