.mailmap file not honored

Reported by Chris Griego | June 24th, 2010 @ 07:31 AM | in 0.8

The project I am working on uses a .mailmap file to help clear up some of the committer noise that has crept in over the years. This git documentation explains how the .mailmap file works as supported by git-log and git-blame. GitX should honor the contents of this file in its display.

Thanks for the great tool!

Hm, while this is easy for us in the list of commits (a one-liner patch which I'll be putting onto my bugfixes-branch), this would be very hard to do in the diff-window as well. Would that suffice for your need? Never ever used .mailmap before, and except for huge public repos, I'd imagine that rewriting the history might be easier ;)

The software is really amazing to fix so many bugs. I have also experience that admission essay writing work. At GitX you may face some issues like this but this one is so supportive for such matters.

The mailmap file is a simple text file that contains a mapping between the user names and the e-mail addresses of these users. Once the file has been imported, the information in the database is used to find the e-mail addresses of the users. Tell Dunkin
