Public education

Reported by Rayan Dexter | March 29th, 2017 @ 09:01 AM

If public education was doing the job there wouldn't be any need for charter and alternative schools. Public schools are there to serve the unions, not the children. Parents should be able to use public resources (paid in by the parents) to decide which school they want their children to attend. The real fear is this just might work and all those kids in crumbling, apathetic, dangerous urban schools just might have an opportunity to escape into the world of real education where teachers are more concerned with teaching than waiting out their retirement. You don't seem to mind at all that George Soros whose biography was studied to write me an essay, is a billionaire. I don't care how much money they have. If they can clean up education, public or otherwise, and give every kid in America an opportunity to a good, honest education, then I'm all for it. The current system has been a failure for over 40 years, so let's try something new. Oh no, can't have that. The unions might lose control.
