Create new local repository

Reported by seasoned-geek | January 1st, 2009 @ 06:28 PM

How does a user create a new local repository if the File -> New menu item is grayed out on the GitX user interface?

    • Tag changed from gui to feature, gui
    • State changed from “new” to “open”
    • Title changed from “GitX 0.5: Create new local repository” to “Create new local repository”

Currently that's not possible. I might add it in a next version.

This is a tricky UI issue as creating a new git repository is usually initing a repo on an existing folder. Should "new" trigger an open dialog where you choose a folder (you can create folders in the open dialog) to be inited? Is there a better way to do this?

Bonus points for allowing creation of "bare" repositories.

A "New repository" option is now available in my master branch, thanks to Nick Zitzmann
